A judge in Oakland County, Michigan, was frustrated that 3 kids from a broken family didn’t want to see their dad and weren’t complying with her custody orders. So in response she had all 3 kids jailed — sent to juvenile detention. The children — a x-year-old xx, a 10-year-old boy, and a nine-year-old girl — were held in the detention center for 3 weeks. In Portland, Oregon, a group of children who were out exploring in a wildlife refuge near their home found a strange and interesting object. It was dull green in color, and shaped like a torpedo. So they decided to unearth it and bring it home. It turned out it was an old, but still live military grade mortar shell explosive, that was about 12 inches long. In Lyons, Colorado, a local bear smelled something sweet. So it entered through a window in a local pie shop and helped itself to some pies. All told, the bear ate 24 cherry pies and 14 apple pies, according to the owner of the Colorado Cherry Company. I think the town found a new winner for their annual pie eating contest.
Continue reading →In Queensbury, New York, an elderly couple was arrested by sheriffs deputies after they allegedly stole a stuffed animal from a child at the Great Escape Theme Park. Crazy you say? But it gets even better: when confronted about their theft, police say they responded by assaulting the child’s family. I guess they really, really wanted that stuffed animal.

So they recently issued an ultimatum, sending out a letter to parents saying their children would be turned over to authorities and kept overnight if not picked up on time after school. A spokesman for the school district, however, is back tracking, and says the letter was sent in error.

Officially, this will probably go down as a “justifiable” shooting, since it occurred during the commission of a crime. Yet it’s, another example of how trigger happy gun owners seem all too eager for the opportunity to try and kill someone. (April 28, 2015)
