Cancer dag saves from fire
Grand Rapids, Michigan, a man, Scott Seymore, was told that his bulldog, 9-year-old Brittney had cancer. He was given the option to euthanize her. Instead Seymore decided to give her pain medication until death came naturally, probably within weeks. It turned out to be a good decision. Shortly thereafter his phone caught on fire and Brittney awakened her owner, which allowed them both to escape the burning house. (USA Today, 5-26-2009, p. 8A)
