Police, in theory, are supposed to be the “good guys” protecting children from harm. The people kids can count on during times of need. Police certainly can and do serve in this role. Yet police officers can also be careless, reckless, or downright sadistic and aggressive, and this makes them dangerous.
In fact, statistically speaking, your kids are far more likely to be killed by police than they are murdered by any registered sex offenders living in your community. Law enforcement can also traumatize children through their treatment and arrests of family members or friends.
