It’s the stuff of a parent’s nightmares: You show up at school to pick up your child, only to discover they aren’t there. Schools, unfortunately, can be hot spots for child abductions: Not only do non-custodial abductions by parents commonly occur at schools, but predators looking to abduct children commonly target the area on or around schools. Here are some of the real-life stories of children abducted from school:
A 7-year-old girl in Mexico was abducted from her primary school. Surveillance cameras showed her being led away from the school by an unidentified woman. Her body was later discovered wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped near a construction site. Police were unsure about the motive. (Semple & Villegas, 2020)
