One of the most common school bus incident is that school bus drivers leave a child unattended on the school bus, either accidentally or intentionally. Most of the time the mistake is discovered and the kids are recovered safely, but sometime it can have deadly consequences.

4-Year-Old Left On Bus
In Indianapolis, Indiana, state legislators introduced a bill that would require school bus drivers to do end-of-route inspections to make sure no child is still aboard. Those who failed to do so would face a $500 fine. The legislation was introduced after a 4-year-old boy was left on a bus in Richmond, and three South Bend students were left on school buses in separate incidents last year. Special needs Child Left on Bus
In Lacey, Washington, a substitute school bus driver was fired after leaving a first grader with special needs on the bus for 7 hours. The 6-year-old boy was on his way back from Lydia Hawk Elementary School. (December, 12th 2014)

Charges Filed Agains Bus Driver
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a bus driver faces charges after apparently leaving a 7-year-old boy unattended on a running bus so that he could go grocery shopping. A passerby saw the child alone on the bus and called the police. (USA Today, 1-13-2017, p. 6B)
