Bold Shark Takes Bit Out Of Boy
In Florida, an 11-year-old boy was recovering from severe injuries to his leg after a shark bit him at least twice in the waters off Cocoa Beach.
The boy was wading in waste deep water with his family when the incident happened, at around 10:50 AM on a Sunday. He was playing near his mother when lifeguards spotted the boy thrashing around in the water, apparently in distress. So a lifeguard went into the water and pulled the injured boy to shore. “There was blood in the water” said Eisen Witcher, assistant chief of Ocean Rescue, and the boy had a large cut on his lower right calf.
Witnesses at the beach reported seeing several small bull sharks in the water and say the boy was probably bitten at least twice. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then, due the severity of the bite, flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital for children & women in Orlando.
