No Car Surfing … MOM!
9-7-07
A 27-year-old mother accidentally ran over her 10-year-old son,
while letting her two boys, (ages 9 and 10) ride on the hood of her car. The boys eventually jumped off, and Clara Rosales, not seeing her oldest son, drove forward, running over the boy with a rear tire. He suffered several broken bones in his leg.
Rosales reportedly told police she was driving slowly when the accident occurred, and apparently didn’t think there to be any danger. She was charged with 1 count of negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, and was being held in a Denver County Jail on 50,000 bond.
While this was obviously a lapse in judgment on the part of the
mother, Denver prosecutors should be ashamed of themselves. This is not a case that appears to need prosecution, and I doubt the ‘victims’ in this case, (her sons) would want to see their mother locked up. The prosecutor’s actions not only create a financial and emotional burden for this family, they have removed the children’s mother, the most burdening emotional turmoil a child can endure. They are committing a much, more severe form of child abuse through their actions; they’re simply hiding behind the law in order to do it. Shame on you. We need someone to prosecute the prosecutors.
