In Fairbanks, Alaska, a man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping two sisters in order to teach the parents a lesson on what can happen when you let your kids out alone.  According to police reports, 40-year-old Michael Bowen Jr. became agitated that the girls were riding bikes by themselves, so he lured them away and snatched the girls because he “wanted to scare the parents.”

This type of thing happens more often than you might think.  Just in the past couple  of years, several parents have gotten in trouble for kidnapping children as a means of raising awareness about a school’s lax security.  Needless to say, there are better ways of doing this than forcing an abduction to prove your point. It doesn’t prove that kids are actually in danger, it only proves that you’d go to any length to prove your point.
