A 5-year-old boy who was out for an evening bicycle ride with his father, died after being struck in the road by an SUV. The truck was driven by a teenage driver, whose identity was not released. The child was pronounced dead a short time later at Sweedish Medical Center.

The accident occurred just before 5:00 P.M. in a neighborhood in southeast Denver, Colorado, on South Alton Court near East Cornell Avenue. Authorities aren’t sure if the kindergartner darted out into traffic or what caused him to veer into the road. Neighbors reported that his father was nearby at the time of the accident. Though we don’t know the exact specifics of what happened, given
the child’s age, it’s likely that the boy was just learning to ride a bike, and may have lost control, swerving into the road.
