When most people think of their child being abducted by a stranger, their mind typically goes to the thought of a dirty old man in a van. Yet it isn’t just men who might be out there stalking their children.

Police in Irmo, South Carolina, were on the lookout last week for a woman wearing scrubs with a teddy bear design on them who has been trying to lure preteen boys into her car. According to the police chief, she’s approached boys between the ages of 10 and 12 and tried to lure them in by offering them a ride. (USA Today, 10-6-2017, 6B)

Most attempts of stranger to abduct children are unsuccessful, and for every child abducted by a stranger, there are a dozen or more attempts. But an abductor only needs to be successful once. Make sure your kids isn’t the one who falls for it.
